Personal Hobbies and Interests

In my free time, I enjoy arts and crafts, playing video games, and spending time with friends and family. While I don’t have pets of my own due to allergies, I do have several “kitty nieces and nephews” that I help care for whenever my sisters need an extra hand.

Favorite Part of My Job

It’s hard to pick just one favorite part of my job, but I would say it’s seeing the bond between pets and their owners. Being able to play a role in keeping animals healthy and comfortable — and helping preserve that connection — is incredibly meaningful to me. Knowing that the work we do supports both pets and the people who love them is what makes this profession so rewarding.

Why I Chose This Profession

I’ve always had a strong love for animals and an interest in science, even from a young age. Growing up, I always said I wanted to be a veterinarian — but interestingly, I didn’t have much hands-on experience with animals, and I even discovered I was allergic to both cats and dogs early on.

After earning my bachelor’s degree in psychology, I found myself still thinking about that childhood goal. When I started exploring my options, I discovered the role of a Licensed Veterinary Technician and was drawn to how similar it is to human nursing. That combination of patient care, medical knowledge, and hands-on work made it clear that this was the path I wanted to pursue.

Education

Associate of Applied Science – Veterinary Technician, Summa Cum Laude
Macomb Community College (2021–2023)

Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Cum Laude
Wayne State University (2016–2020)

Professional Background

I became a Licensed Veterinary Technician in 2023 after completing the Veterinary Technician Program at Macomb Community College. My internships provided my first hands-on experience in veterinary medicine and helped build a strong foundation in patient care, clinical skills, and teamwork.

Since joining Harvey Animal Hospital full-time, I’ve continued to grow my skills and confidence in a clinical setting. I have a particular interest in dentistry, as I enjoy both the technical aspects of dental procedures and the opportunity to educate pet owners about the importance of dental health in their pets. I also enjoy working in surgery and anesthesia, especially assisting with dental procedures and cleanings.

As someone newer to the field, I’m committed to continuing to learn, improve my technical abilities, and provide compassionate, attentive care to every patient and client I work with.
