Regular wellness exams are vital for your pet's health and wellbeing and at Harvey, our team follows the latest recommendations from the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), the American Heartworm Society (AHS), and the Companion Animal Parasite Council (CAPC) to keep your dog healthy through all life stages.

Preventive Care and Wellness Exams

Regular checkups are the foundation of lifelong health, and our Wellness plans are customized to cover every lifestyle.

Wellness visits every 6–12 months allow for early detection of health issues and allow for updates to your dog's individualized care plan.
Year round prevention and annual Heartworm testing is recommended to keep your pet protected against heartworm disease.
Fecal parasite testing should be performed multiple times during puppyhood and at least twice yearly for adult dogs to protect you and your dog from parasite infection.

Core and Lifestyle-Based Vaccines

Although we can never fully prevent exposure to a disease, vaccinations CAN protect your dog from life-threatening symptoms caused by diseases and helps to protect you, your family, and the public from the spread of diseases.

Core vaccines (recommended for all dogs):

Distemper (CDV)
Parvovirus (CPV)
Adenovirus (CAV-2, protects against hepatitis and kennel cough)

Lifestyle vaccines (based on exposure and regional risk):

Puppies start vaccines at 6–8 weeks, and require boosters for those vaccines every 3–4 weeks until at least 16 weeks of age. Vaccines can then be and annual boosters thereafter, as long as they stay consistent. Adult dogs typically receive boosters every 1 to 3 years depending on the vaccine and lifestyle of the pet.
