Dr. Rebecca Coll

Hi, I'm Dr. Coll! I have spent my entire veterinary career serving pets and families in the Detroit metro area, with over two decades of experience in small animal medicine. As the owner of Harvey Memorial Animal Hospital since 2012, I take pride in providing thoughtful, compassionate, and high-quality veterinary care tailored to each individual patient. I am committed to staying current through continuing education and have completed training in Fear Free techniques (2019) and Low Stress Handling (2020), which focus on minimizing anxiety and discomfort for pets during veterinary visits.

My Favorite Part of My Job

My favorite part of being a veterinarian is working through complex medical cases. I truly enjoy putting all the pieces together — blood work, X-rays, ultrasound findings, and physical exams — to determine the most likely diagnosis and treatment plan. I also find it incredibly rewarding to help clients understand what’s happening with their pets and guide them through the process of getting them healthy, comfortable, and back to enjoying life.

Why I Chose This Profession

I can’t remember a time when I didn’t want to be a veterinarian. I’ve always loved animals and science, and veterinary medicine felt like the perfect blend of both. I also enjoy problem-solving and puzzles, and medicine allows me to use those skills every day. At my core, I believe my purpose is to keep animals healthy, happy, and pain-free, and to help them live the longest, best lives possible.

My Hobbies & Interests

Outside of work, I stay busy with my family — especially taking my children to their activities and cheering them on, particularly at baseball games when my son is playing. When I have quiet time, I enjoy reading and doing crafts of all kinds. Family time and creative hobbies help me recharge and stay balanced.
